The Pitco 3 Way Ball Valve is a direct replacement three-way ball valve for Pitco commercial fryer filter systems and oil management circuits. It allows the operator to direct oil flow through one of two paths — such as routing oil to the filter unit or back to the fry tank — with a single quarter-turn of the handle, simplifying the filtration and oil management process. Using the correct three-way ball valve ensures the proper body material, high-temperature oil seal compatibility, and connection sizes for Pitco filter system applications.
Over time, the three-way ball valve's seals can harden and develop bypass leaks from prolonged exposure to hot cooking oil and repeated thermal cycling, while the ball can become scored or the handle can stiffen to the point where correct port selection is difficult. A compromised three-way valve can result in oil bypassing the filter, mixing filtered and unfiltered oil, or an inability to correctly direct oil flow during the filtration cycle. Replacing the valve with a compatible unit restores reliable, positive three-way oil flow direction control.
Installation involves draining the oil circuit, removing the old valve, and threading or connecting the new valve in the same position with appropriate high-temperature thread sealant. It is recommended to cycle the handle through all three positions after installation to verify clean, positive actuation and to check all connections for leaks with oil at operating temperature.
