PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Air Vent for Cleveland Part# 22140

Details
The Air Vent (Part# 22140) is a Cleveland-compatible replacement air vent for use in Cleveland commercial steamer and steam distribution equipment. Air vents are thermostatic or float-type devices installed in steam lines and equipment to automatically purge air and non-condensable gases from the steam system during startup, improving heat-up time, enhancing steam distribution uniformity, and preventing air pockets from reducing effective steam temperature.
Air vents can fail in either the open or closed position. A vent stuck open continuously releases steam during normal operation, wasting energy and reducing steam pressure. A vent stuck closed traps air during startup, prolonging heat-up times, creating cold spots in the cooking compartment, and reducing overall cooking performance. Sediment buildup or corrosion of the internal thermostatic element is the most common cause of air vent failure.
Air vent replacement should be performed with the steam system fully shut down, depressurized, and cooled. A qualified service technician should remove the old vent from its threaded connection, inspect the port and surrounding piping for scale or corrosion, and install the new Air Vent using steam-rated thread sealant. Slowly restore steam pressure and monitor the vent during the warm-up cycle to confirm that it opens to purge air at startup and closes once steam pressure is established.
