The Amerex B456 is a 10 lb ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher built for versatile protection across a wide range of fire hazards. With a UL rating of 4-A:80-B:C, it is capable of handling Class A fires involving ordinary combustibles like wood, paper, and cloth; Class B fires from flammable liquids such as gasoline, grease, and oil; and Class C fires involving energized electrical equipment. This broad coverage makes it one of the most practical all-purpose extinguishers available for commercial and industrial settings. Standing 20 inches tall and weighing 18 lbs fully charged, it is substantial enough for serious fire response while remaining manageable in an emergency.
The B456 uses a specially fluidized and siliconized monoammonium phosphate dry chemical agent — a fine pale yellow powder that works on Class A fires by melting at approximately 350°F and coating the surface to chemically insulate and smother the flame. On Class B and C fires, the agent interrupts the chemical chain reaction of combustion for fast knockdown. The anodized aluminum valve is paired with a hose and nozzle for controlled directional discharge, giving the operator a 15 to 21 foot effective range and 20 seconds of continuous agent delivery.
