    The Amerex C260 is a 6-liter wet chemical fire extinguisher built for commercial kitchens where deep fat fryers, griddles and other cooking equipment create a risk of grease fires. It carries a UL rating of 2-A:K, so it is effective on burning cooking oils and fats (Class K) and on ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper and cloth (Class A). Restaurants, cafeterias, food trucks and institutional kitchens use it as the portable backup to their fixed hood suppression system, and it helps them meet NFPA 10 requirements for Class K extinguishers near cooking appliances.

    The extinguisher holds a potassium acetate-based wet chemical agent that sprays out as a fine mist through a hose and spray nozzle. The gentle mist knocks the fire down without splashing burning grease out of the fryer. When the agent hits hot cooking oil, it reacts with the oil to form a soapy foam layer (saponification) that smothers the fire, cools the surface and helps stop it from reigniting. The stored-pressure unit runs at 100 PSIG and discharges for about 53 seconds with an initial range of 10–12 feet, which lets the operator attack the fire from a safe distance.

    Amerex builds the C260 to last in hot, humid and greasy kitchens. The cylinder is polished stainless steel with crevice-free, butt-welded seams, and the valve is all stainless steel, so the unit resists corrosion and is easy to wipe clean. It has a large-loop stainless steel pull pin that is easy to grab in an emergency, multilingual QR-coded labels, and a wall bracket for mounting. The unit is about 19" H x 9" W x 7" D, weighs about 22.5 lbs shipped, and works in temperatures from +40°F to 120°F. It is UL listed, tested to UL 711 and CAN/ULC-S554/S508, and comes factory charged and ready to mount.
