Details

The Avantco 177400042 is the OEM replacement millivolt natural gas combination valve for Avantco floor fryers and donut/funnel cake fryers with 1/2" natural gas connections. A combination valve integrates two critical functions into a single body: a thermocouple-operated safety shutoff valve and the main gas control valve. On millivolt gas systems — common in commercial fryers without electronic ignition — the pilot flame heats a thermocouple that generates a small electrical current, which holds the safety valve open. If the pilot goes out for any reason, the thermocouple cools, the current drops, and the valve closes automatically to prevent unburned gas from entering the appliance. This is the primary gas safety control device in the fryer's fuel system.

Replacing a faulty combination valve restores proper pilot operation, correct main burner gas flow, and the safety shutoff function that protects the fryer from uncontrolled gas flow. Symptoms of a failing combination valve include a pilot that will not stay lit, a main burner that does not ignite or ignites inconsistently, or a valve body that fails to pass the thermocouple signal check. This part measures 3-1/2" wide × 3" deep × 4" high and is a direct OEM drop-in replacement.
