Details

The Avantco 177400043 Safety Thermopile is an OEM replacement component for Avantco commercial gas warming equipment designed to sense flame presence and control gas safety valve operation. This 18-inch capillary-tube thermopile generates a small electrical current when exposed to burner flame, which keeps the safety valve open to permit continued gas flow during operation.

Safety thermopiles fail when the thermoelectric sensing junction becomes corroded, capillary tubes develop leaks or cracks, or solder connections corrode and lose electrical conductivity. A non-functional thermopile cannot sense flame presence, causing the safety valve to close and prevent gas flow to the burner. This renders the warming equipment incapable of operation until the thermopile is replaced.

Installation of the Avantco 177400043 requires a certified gas appliance technician experienced with safety-critical components. The technician will shut off gas and electrical power, carefully access the burner assembly area, remove the old thermopile from its mounting position, disconnect its electrical connection with appropriate care, install the new thermopile with proper positioning in the flame path and secure fastening, and reconnect the electrical wire. The technician will then light the burner and verify the thermopile generates sufficient signal to keep the safety valve open.
