The Avantco 177400146 is an OEM replacement millivolt liquid propane combination valve for select Avantco commercial ice machines that operate on liquid propane gas. This combination valve controls propane flow and ignition to thaw ice from the freezing surface during the harvest cycle. The millivolt design operates on low-voltage power generated by a thermopile, making it suitable for equipment without 110V electrical service.
Combination valves deteriorate from propane system debris or moisture blocking valve passages, thermopile failure reducing electrical output for valve actuation, seal degradation causing propane leakage, or mechanical component wear from thermal cycling. Warning signs of failure include inability to harvest ice, weak or missing flame during heating, propane odor indicating leaks, or irregular heating cycles. A failed combination valve prevents ice harvest operation, halting ice production until the valve is replaced.
Professional installation of the Avantco 177400146 combination valve must be performed by a qualified propane and refrigeration service technician.
