The Avantco 177PHCD019 Hi-Limit Thermostat is an OEM replacement safety control component for Avantco commercial warming equipment that prevents the heating element from reaching dangerously high temperatures. This thermostat serves as a secondary safety device that shuts off the heater if the primary thermostat fails to prevent overheating.

A failed hi-limit thermostat may allow the heating element to reach unsafe temperatures, creating a fire hazard or burning contents inside the equipment. If the hi-limit thermostat does not function, and the primary thermostat fails, no protection exists to prevent dangerous overheating. Loss of this safety feature creates serious operational and liability risks.

Installation of the 177PHCD019 requires accessing the equipment control panel and locating the hi-limit thermostat mounting bracket. The old thermostat should be carefully disconnected from its terminals and removed. The new thermostat should be installed in the same position with secure electrical connections. After installation, the primary thermostat should be deliberately set above the hi-limit setpoint to verify that the hi-limit thermostat safely interrupts heating.
