The Avantco 603GC40 cap tube is an OEM replacement component for select Avantco commercial refrigeration units. This precision capillary tube functions as the metering device that controls liquid refrigerant flow into the evaporator coil, regulating the expansion of refrigerant and enabling proper heat absorption. The cap tube's specific dimensions are engineered to optimize refrigerant distribution and system efficiency.

Cap tubes fail due to blockage from mineral deposits, acids, or contaminants in the refrigerant system, physical damage from kinking or improper handling, or material degradation from extended refrigerant exposure. Symptoms of cap tube failure include inadequate cooling, evaporator frosting, temperature fluctuations, high compressor pressures, or system inefficiency. A blocked or damaged cap tube prevents proper refrigerant metering, disrupting the refrigeration cycle and reducing cooling effectiveness.

Installation of the Avantco 603GC40 cap tube must be performed by a certified refrigeration technician. The technician will recover all refrigerant, remove the old cap tube, clean the connection points thoroughly, install the new cap tube without bending, braze or secure the connections properly, evacuate the system completely, and recharge with the correct refrigerant type and quantity. The replacement must match original specifications for internal diameter and length. System operation should be verified and monitored for proper cooling performance after installation.
