    The Avantco 17817359 Replacement Defrost Element is an OEM component for Avantco commercial refrigeration equipment that melts ice buildup on the evaporator coil during defrost cycles. This heating element is activated on a timer to periodically warm the coil and allow accumulated ice to melt and drain, preventing airflow blockage and maintaining cooling capacity.

    A failed defrost element prevents ice from melting during the defrost cycle, causing ice to accumulate on the evaporator coil until it completely blocks airflow. When airflow is blocked, the cabinet temperature rises and the compressor cycles continuously, wasting energy and potentially overheating. Equipment may eventually fail to maintain safe food storage temperatures.

    The 17817359 is mounted directly on or near the evaporator coil and connects to electrical terminals controlled by the defrost timer.
