Details

The Avantco 603GC40 0.40" ID cap tube is an OEM replacement component for select Avantco commercial refrigeration units. This precision capillary tube serves as the metering device in the refrigeration system, controlling the flow rate of liquid refrigerant into the evaporator coil. The cap tube is engineered with specific internal diameter and length to regulate refrigerant flow and ensure proper system performance across varying operating conditions.

Cap tubes fail due to blockage from mineral deposits, acid, or debris in the refrigerant system, physical damage or kinking during installation or maintenance, or degradation from exposure to refrigerant and moisture over extended periods. Symptoms of cap tube failure include inadequate cooling, evaporator frosting, temperature fluctuations, or higher-than-normal compressor discharge pressures. A blocked or damaged cap tube prevents proper refrigerant distribution, causing the system to operate inefficiently or not at all, and potentially damaging the compressor.

Installation of the Avantco 603GC40 cap tube must be performed by a certified refrigeration technician. The technician will recover refrigerant, locate and remove the old cap tube, clean the connection points thoroughly, install the new cap tube without bending or kinking it, braze or secure the connections properly, evacuate the system completely, and recharge with the correct refrigerant quantity. Care must be taken to ensure the cap tube length and ID exactly match the original specification to maintain proper refrigerant metering. The system should be monitored after installation to verify proper cooling operation.
