PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Avantco Ice 19420720 Expansion Valve Assembly
Details
The Avantco Ice 19420720 expansion valve assembly is an OEM replacement component for select Avantco commercial ice machines. This thermostatic expansion valve regulates the flow of refrigerant into the ice machine's evaporator or freezing surface based on temperature conditions, ensuring proper refrigerant metering and freeze cycle control. The expansion valve is critical for optimizing ice production and system efficiency.
Expansion valve assemblies fail due to contamination in the refrigerant system that blocks the valve port or damages the thermostatic element, thermal bulb separation or corrosion reducing temperature sensing accuracy, mechanical wear of valve components from thermal cycling, or ice blockage in the valve. Symptoms of failure include inadequate or excessive ice production, inconsistent freeze cycles, incomplete ice formation, or compressor discharge pressure abnormalities. A malfunctioning expansion valve disrupts refrigerant flow control, degrading ice machine performance and product quality.
Installation of the Avantco Ice 19420720 expansion valve assembly requires a certified refrigeration technician. The technician will recover all refrigerant, disconnect the old valve from refrigerant and bulb connections, remove and install the new valve in proper orientation, reconnect refrigerant lines with secure brazing, reattach the thermal sensing bulb in the correct location, perform system evacuation, and recharge with the manufacturer-specified refrigerant. System superheat should be verified and adjusted if necessary. The valve should be inspected annually for bulb integrity and proper operation.
