The Avantco Z Series 178Z1KITFR Field Reversible Hinge Kit is an OEM replacement kit designed specifically for Avantco Z Series reach-in coolers and freezers to enable field conversion of door hinge orientation. This kit allows technicians to reverse the door swing from left-hinged to right-hinged configuration, or vice versa, without removing the unit from service. The kit includes all necessary hinge components, brackets, pins, and fasteners engineered specifically for Z Series cabinets.
Field reversible hinge kits are used when equipment placement requirements change or operational workflow demands a different door opening direction. Attempting to convert hinges using non-OEM parts or improper methods can result in misalignment, inadequate door sealing, binding, or failure of hinge components. Using a kit designed specifically for Z Series equipment ensures proper fit and reliable performance in the new hinge orientation.
Installation of the 178Z1KITFR requires the refrigeration unit to be powered down before work begins. The existing hinge assembly must be completely disassembled and removed from the cabinet frame. The new kit components are installed in the reverse configuration using the mounting locations designed into Z Series cabinets for field reversal. Standard hand tools are required. After installation, operate the door through multiple complete cycles to verify smooth movement, proper closure, and complete sealing with no gaps.
