The Pitco Ball Valve 1-1/4" R is a direct replacement 1-1/4-inch right-hand ball valve for Pitco commercial deep fryers, used as the primary drain valve to control the flow of hot cooking oil from the fry vat to the filter pan or drain system. The full-port ball valve design provides unrestricted flow when open, allowing quick and complete oil transfer without the restriction that a partial-port valve would impose. Using the correct right-hand configuration ensures proper handle alignment and operation for the specific Pitco SG and related fryer models that use this drain valve specification.
Over time, ball valves used in high-temperature oil service can develop seat leaks when carbon and polymerized oil deposits build up on the ball seating surface, or the stem packing can degrade and allow oil to seep around the valve stem. A leaking ball valve creates a fire risk, a burn hazard for operators, and an unsanitary condition beneath the fryer. Replacing the worn valve with the Pitco-compatible 1-1/4-inch right-hand ball valve restores a positive, leak-free shutoff that withstands the high temperatures and chemical environment of commercial frying oil.
Replacement requires draining the fryer, removing the old valve from the drain piping assembly, and installing the new valve with appropriate high-temperature thread sealant on the pipe threads.
