The Buckeye 2.5 Gallon Water Mist extinguisher is a uniquely engineered unit that uses deionized water discharged through a specialized spray nozzle to suppress Class A (ordinary combustibles) and Class C (energized electrical) fires. This combination is rare among water-based extinguishers: deionized water is non-conductive, enabling safe use on live electrical equipment where standard water extinguishers are prohibited. Beyond its electrical safety, the unit is non-magnetic and has been third-party tested as MR Conditional safe near MRI equipment up to 3 Tesla, making it the number one choice for hospital radiology departments, imaging centers, and medical facilities — as well as libraries, archives, and rare book collections where chemical agents would cause irreversible damage.

Carrying a UL Rating of 2-A:C, this extinguisher operates at 100 psi and offers an impressive 73-second discharge time with a mist range of 5–10 feet and a stream range of 45–55 feet — the longest discharge duration in the Buckeye portable line. The stainless steel cylinder provides superior corrosion resistance, and the Schrader valve enables quick, simple, and cost-effective recharging in the field. Manufactured to ANSI/UL 8 and ANSI/UL 711 standards, the operating temperature range is 40°F to 120°F.
