Details
This ECM watt motor, Carrier HVAC part number EC5414E, is the Nidec US Motors Rescue electronically commutated fan motor used on refrigeration evaporator and condenser fans in walk-ins, reach-ins and similar units. It runs on 115 to 230 volts at 50/60 Hz with no wiring change, and the output can be set from 4 to 25 watts at 1550/1650 RPM. The motor is about 3.3 inches in diameter, weighs about 2 lb, has an aluminum frame with ball bearings and is rated IP67 against moisture.
Fan motors in refrigeration run almost nonstop, often in cold, wet or iced conditions, so bearings wear and windings eventually fail. A failing fan motor gets noisy, runs slow or stops, and the coil loses airflow, which leads to iced evaporators, high head pressure, warm boxes and extra compressor run time. Replacing it with an efficient ECM motor restores airflow and cuts energy use compared with older shaded-pole motors.
A qualified technician should install this motor. Disconnect power, remove the old motor and fan blade, set the wattage and rotation to match the original motor, then mount the new motor with the included universal mounting hardware and rubber isolator, refit the blade and connect the plug-in lead. Keep the fan guard and coil clean and check that the blade spins freely. This motor fits Carrier HVAC refrigeration fan applications using part EC5414E. Confirm your model before ordering.
