Details
The Pitco Contactor 24V is a direct replacement contactor for Pitco commercial electric fryers that use a 24-volt control voltage to actuate the heating element switching circuit. The low-voltage 24V coil allows the fryer's safety control circuit to switch high-current heating loads without exposing operators to high control voltages. Using the correct contactor ensures coil voltage compatibility with the 24V control system and proper load contact ratings for the installed heating elements.
Over time, contactor contacts in high-duty commercial fryer applications erode from repeated high-current arcing, and the 24V coil can fail from insulation breakdown or coil wire fatigue, causing the contactor to stick closed, fail to close on command, or buzz continuously. These failures result in uncontrolled heating, no heating, or persistent audible noise from the electrical cabinet. Replacing the contactor with a compatible 24V unit restores safe and reliable element switching under proper low-voltage control.
Installation uses the same mounting and wiring as the original contactor, and the 24V coil terminals connect directly to the control circuit output. It is recommended to verify 24V control voltage at the coil terminals under both energized and de-energized conditions before condemning the contactor, to rule out a control circuit fault. Pairing contactor replacement with a check of the 24V transformer and control board output stage will ensure the control circuit is healthy and will not cause premature failure of the new contactor.
