Details
The 3-pole, 25-amp, 240V contactor is an industrial-grade switching device used in Manitowoc commercial ice machines to switch high-current loads — typically the compressor or combination of high-draw motors — under the direction of the machine's low-voltage control circuit. A low-voltage control coil, energized by the control board, creates a magnetic field that closes the main current-carrying contacts to power the load. This separation of control voltage from load voltage allows the microprocessor-based control board to safely switch compressor or motor currents without routing high inrush current through the board's own electronics.
Contactor failure presents as the controlled load failing to energize despite control board commands, or in the case of welded contacts, loads that run continuously without being commanded. Welded or pitted contacts result from excessive make-break arcing due to high inrush currents or switching under overload conditions. Replacing with this direct-replacement contactor restores reliable high-current load switching and eliminates the risk of control board damage from a failed contact assembly.
