Rated at 30 amps per pole, it provides the robust, repeated-switching capacity needed to cycle high-current resistive loads throughout the frying day without the contact degradation that would occur in a lower-rated switch. Using the correct contactor ensures the proper coil voltage, pole configuration, and current rating for the specific Pitco electric fryer model.

Over time, contactor contacts wear and develop pitting from the repeated arcing that occurs each time the heating element circuit is opened or closed, eventually leading to high-resistance contacts that cause overheating, erratic element cycling, or complete failure of the contactor to close. A failed contactor leaves one or more heating elements inoperative, reducing the fryer's heating capacity and extending recovery time between batches.
