The Pitco Contactor 3P 30/40A 120V is a direct replacement three-pole heavy-duty contactor for Pitco commercial electric fryers. It is energized by a 120V control coil and switches up to 30–40 amperes of load current across three poles simultaneously to power the high-wattage heating elements. Using the correct contactor ensures proper coil voltage compatibility, contact current rating, and mounting configuration for reliable heating element control.
Over time, contactor contacts erode from the high-current arcing that occurs during each switching cycle, and the coil can fail from heat and electrical stress, causing the contactor to weld closed — leaving the elements permanently energized — or to fail open, preventing the elements from heating at all. Either failure mode creates a significant safety or food quality problem. Replacing the contactor with a compatible unit restores safe, reliable switching of the heating elements.
The contactor mounts on a DIN rail or with screws in the electrical cabinet and connects via screw-terminal lugs. It is recommended to inspect contactor contacts for pitting or erosion during every scheduled maintenance visit and to replace the contactor at the first sign of contact deterioration or coil buzzing.
