The Contactor 4P 40/50A 208/240V for Blodgett Part# 40892 is a compatible aftermarket replacement electrical contactor for use in Blodgett commercial convection ovens, deck ovens, and combination cooking equipment. The contactor is an electromechanical switching device that connects and disconnects high-current electrical loads — such as heating elements — under the command of low-voltage control signals from the oven's thermostat or control board.
In commercial Blodgett electric ovens, contactors carry the full amperage load of the heating elements and cycle on and off continuously throughout the equipment's operational life. The electrical arcing that occurs at the contact points during switching causes gradual contact erosion, which is the primary mechanism of contactor wear.
