PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Contactor 4P 40/50A 208/240V for Jackson Part# 1240

Details
The contactor (Jackson Part# 1240) is a 4-pole, 40/50 Amp electrical switch rated for 208/240V operation in Jackson commercial dishwashing equipment. This replacement controls higher-amperage electrical loads such as large circulation pumps and heating elements. The contactor responds to signals from the equipment's control board and manages power delivery during wash cycle sequences.
Contactors fail through electrical arcing that damages contact surfaces, creating pitting and erosion that prevents reliable electrical connection. Progressive contact degradation results in intermittent power delivery, with components activating sporadically or failing to respond to control signals. Severe arcing can weld contacts together, preventing disconnection, or burn contacts open, creating permanent disconnection. Symptoms include inconsistent equipment operation, loads not activating reliably, or wash cycles not progressing as programmed.
A qualified technician with electrical training should perform the replacement due to electrical hazards and the need to safely isolate high-voltage circuits before work. All power must be confirmed off using a multimeter before disconnecting the old contactor. After installation, test all contactor-controlled equipment loads to verify reliable activation and deactivation throughout multiple wash cycles. Monitor contactors regularly during maintenance for signs of arcing damage, contact surface erosion, discoloration, or abnormal heating, and replace proactively if degradation is observed.
