The ELC915 contactor is an electromechanical switching device that closes its three main contacts when the 120V coil is energized, connecting the three-phase load to its power supply. The contactor is used for loads that are too large for direct relay switching, providing a reliable, high-current interface between the control system's low-energy signal outputs and the high-current oven heating or motor circuits. The Telemecanique platform provides a long, proven service history in the commercial food service industry.
Signs of contactor failure include one or more heating elements or motor phases not energizing, the contactor coil humming continuously without the contacts closing, visible contact burning or pitting visible on inspection after de-energizing the equipment, or the contactor contacts welding shut causing the load to remain energized when the coil is de-energized. Welded contacts are a safety hazard that requires immediate attention.
Replacement should be performed by a qualified electrician with the equipment fully de-energized. The 120V coil wires and load wiring are disconnected, the old contactor is unclipped or unbolted from its rail, and the new ELC915 is installed. All connections are torqued to specification and the contactor operation is tested before the equipment is returned to service.
