The ELE130 provides the sustained 1,500W heat input needed to maintain proofer temperatures against the heat loss from door openings, ambient temperature variations, and the cooling effect of cold dough loaded into the cabinet. In proofer applications, the heating element runs in short, frequent cycles as the thermostat maintains the setpoint temperature, making element reliability over millions of switching cycles an important performance attribute.
Signs of element failure include the proofer failing to maintain setpoint temperature, longer-than-expected proof times during production, the element circuit breaker tripping, or continuity testing showing an open element at the terminal connections. In proofers equipped with multiple elements, the failure of a single element may be masked during light production loads but becomes apparent when the cabinet is fully loaded and requires maximum heat input.
Replacement should be performed by a qualified technician. The equipment is de-energized, the element terminal connections are released, the element mounting hardware is removed, and the new ELE130 is installed. The connection to the thermostat or control circuit is verified before the equipment is re-energized and the element heating is confirmed.
