Common failure symptoms include the controller displaying an open circuit error or ERR message, temperature readings that are significantly higher or lower than the actual cavity temperature, or wild temperature swings that do not correspond to normal heating and cooling cycles. Damaged probe insulation or a broken wire within the probe lead can also cause intermittent false readings.
