Details

The Doyon FEV036-1 is a genuine OEM variable frequency drive pre-programmed at the factory specifically for use in the Doyon SRO2G rack oven. The VFD controls the rack rotation motor's speed by varying the frequency and voltage delivered to the motor, allowing the control system to ramp the rotation speed up smoothly at the start of the cycle and maintain the correct rotation rate throughout the baking program.

Variable frequency drives are used in rack oven applications to eliminate the mechanical shock of direct-on-line motor starting, which can cause the loaded rack to lurch and potentially tip product or stress the drive chain. By providing a soft start and controlled ramp, the FEV036-1 protects the drive train, the loaded rack, and the product through every rotation cycle. The VFD also allows the rotation speed to be varied as part of the bake program for specialized product requirements.

Signs of VFD failure include the rack rotation motor not starting, the rack accelerating to speed too rapidly (indicating the VFD is bypassed or in fault), VFD fault codes on its display, the drive overheating and shutting down on thermal protection, or erratic rack speed variations during baking. Because the FEV036-1 is pre-programmed for the SRO2G, a replacement drive must retain the factory parameter set to function correctly without requiring a technician to manually program all parameters.

Replacement must be performed by a qualified electrician or technician. The drive is de-energized and the input and output wiring connections are transferred to the new FEV036-1. The drive should be powered up and its stored program verified before connecting the motor. The soft-start ramp and motor protection settings should be confirmed against the SRO2G specifications before returning the oven to service.
