The Doyon GAB500 is a genuine OEM Ignition Module featuring the Honeywell S87D ignition system, designed for use across the full range of Doyon gas-fired baking equipment including JA-series deck ovens, CA-series convection ovens, and PIZ-series pizza ovens. This module controls the complete burner ignition sequence from spark generation to flame verification, and provides lockout protection if a flame is not established within the trial-for-ignition period.
The S87D ignition module manages the safety-critical sequence of events at burner startup. It energizes the ignition spark transformer, monitors the flame sensor signal to confirm burner establishment, and holds the gas valve open once flame is confirmed. If the flame sensor does not report a flame signal within the preset trial period, the module enters a safety lockout state, shutting off gas flow and preventing unburned gas accumulation in the combustion chamber.
Common failure symptoms include the burner repeatedly going into lockout even when the igniter and gas valve are functioning correctly, intermittent ignition that requires multiple manual resets to establish, or complete failure to initiate an ignition cycle. A failed module may also cause the gas valve to remain closed even when all other components in the ignition circuit are operational.
Replacement must be performed by a qualified gas appliance technician. The module is de-wired and unclipped from its mounting, the new S87D module is installed, and all wiring connections are remade per the terminal diagram. The ignition sequence should be tested through multiple cycles to confirm reliable lockout-free operation.
