Details
The gearbox is a critical mechanical component in the sheeter drive train. Its gear reduction ratio determines the roller speed and therefore the rate at which dough passes through the nip and the dough contact time. The gearbox must provide the correct roller speed for the dough recipe and desired sheet thickness while delivering sufficient torque to handle the full range of dough stiffnesses encountered in production without stalling. Gearbox oil integrity is essential for bearing and gear life in this application.
Signs of gearbox failure include increasing noise from the drive train during sheeter operation, visible oil leaks at the gearbox seals, the sheeter roller drive becoming intermittent or failing under load, unusual vibration from the gearbox area, or significant heat generation from the gearbox during operation that was not previously present. Gear wear from insufficient lubrication is a common failure mode in commercial dough sheeters.
Replacement should be performed by a qualified technician. The sheeter is de-energized and the gearbox is drained of gear oil before removal. The motor-to-gearbox coupling and the gearbox-to-roller drive connections are released, the old gearbox is removed, and the new PC100020-I is installed and connected. The gearbox is filled with the correct grade and quantity of gear oil before the sheeter is tested at low load prior to full production use.
