Details

The Doyon QUF400 is a genuine OEM side-mounted float switch designed for use in Doyon steam injection ovens and proofer-ovens equipped with a water pan or reservoir for steam generation. This float switch monitors the water level from a side-mounted position, providing a reliable liquid level signal to the control system to prevent heating element dry-fire and manage automatic water refill sequences.

The float switch plays a critical safety and operational role in steam oven systems. When the water level drops to the minimum threshold, the float switch opens its contact, signaling the control system to either open the fill solenoid valve to restore water or disable the heating element to prevent dry-fire damage. This protection prevents the immersion element from burning out due to insufficient water coverage — one of the most common causes of steam element failure.

Failure of the float switch can manifest in two ways: if the switch fails open, the heating element will not energize even when the reservoir is full, resulting in no steam generation; if it fails closed, the fill valve may not open when water level is low, allowing the element to run dry. Operators may notice steam output stopping unexpectedly or the reservoir overflowing as indicators of a malfunctioning float switch.

Replacement should be performed by a trained technician with the steam system fully de-energized and the reservoir drained. The side-mounted switch is unbolted from the reservoir wall, leads are disconnected, and the new switch is installed at the correct level marking before reconnection and testing.

The genuine Doyon QUF400 provides the correct float travel, switching point, and side-mount configuration for Doyon steam oven reservoir protection, ensuring reliable water level control and element protection from the moment of installation.
