Details

The evaporator top molding and gasket assembly seals the top edge of the evaporator to the surrounding ice machine structure, creating an airtight boundary that prevents warm ambient air from infiltrating the ice-forming zone during the freeze cycle. Any warm air that bypasses this seal extends freeze cycle times, reduces daily ice output, and can cause condensation and frost formation on internal components adjacent to the evaporator top.

A deteriorated, compressed, or improperly installed evaporator gasket or top molding results in warm air infiltration that progressively extends freeze cycle duration and reduces daily ice production without triggering obvious fault codes. In cases of significant air leakage, the machine may fail to achieve the evaporator surface temperatures required to complete a freeze cycle within the maximum programmed cycle time, triggering a cycle timeout fault. Replacing this sealing component restores the thermal integrity of the ice-making section and eliminates air infiltration losses.
