Drain fittings in commercial ice equipment are submerged in standing water or meltwater and subject to scale buildup, chlorine degradation, and mechanical stress from plumbing connections and floor drain positioning. Plastic fittings can crack from over-tightening, freeze/thaw stress, or chemical degradation over years of service. A failed drain fitting results in water leaking onto the floor beneath the unit, a health and safety hazard in commercial kitchens, and may cause the machine to trigger a drain overflow fault or shut down ice production.
