The Pitco Gas Safety Valve-1/2" is a direct replacement gas safety shutoff valve for Pitco commercial gas fryers with 1/2-inch gas connections. It monitors the pilot flame via the thermocouple signal and automatically shuts off the gas supply to the main burner if the pilot extinguishes, preventing dangerous gas accumulation. Using the correct safety valve ensures the correct millivolt holding threshold, 1/2-inch connection size, and flow rate for the specific Pitco fryer gas train.
Over time, gas safety valves can develop weakened electromagnet seats that fail to hold open with a good thermocouple signal, contaminated valve seats from gas line impurities, or corroded connection threads, causing the fryer to shut off unpredictably or fail to reset after a pilot outage. These failures create operational disruptions and service calls that can be eliminated by replacing the valve with a new unit. Replacing the gas safety valve restores the correct pilot-flame-dependent shutoff function.
A qualified gas service technician must install the replacement valve with proper thread sealant on all 1/2-inch pipe connections and perform a leak test at every fitting after installation.
