The Gaylord Cancel Switch (Part# 10010) is a genuine replacement control switch for Gaylord commercial kitchen ventilator and fire suppression control cabinets. Mounted inside the cabinet's electrical compartment, this switch lets kitchen staff manually end the automatic wash-down/cool-down cycle that follows a fire suppression system discharge, rather than waiting out the full cycle.
Because the cancel switch sits inside the electrical enclosure of a system that's cycled by heat, moisture, and grease-laden air, its contacts and housing are exposed to repeated thermal and humidity stress every time the wash-down cycle runs. Over time this leads to a sticking or unresponsive switch, one that fails to register a press, or a control cabinet that won't let staff cancel the cycle at all -- leaving the wash-down running longer than needed and delaying the return of hood operation.
Replacement should be handled by a qualified fire suppression/ventilation technician. Begin by de-energizing the control cabinet at the breaker and confirming zero voltage with a meter before opening the electrical compartment. Disconnect the wiring from the existing switch, noting terminal positions, remove the failed switch from the panel, and install the new Gaylord Cancel Switch in the same mounting location, reconnecting wiring per the original configuration. Restore power and test by running a wash cycle and confirming the cancel function stops the cycle as expected before returning the hood to service.
