The Gaylord Globe for Bullet-Shaped 100W Bulb (Part# 10119) is a genuine replacement glass lighting globe for the light fixtures installed inside Gaylord commercial kitchen ventilator hoods. The globe encloses the bullet-shaped 100-watt lamp, shielding it from the grease-laden exhaust air and moisture that pass through the hood cavity while still allowing full illumination of the cooking line below.
Because the globe sits directly in the exhaust airstream above active cooking equipment, it is constantly coated in grease vapor and subjected to high heat and, during wash-down cycles, direct water contact. Over time this causes the glass to discolor, craze, or crack from thermal shock, and once the globe fails the bulb inside is left unprotected -- a violation in most jurisdictions' health and fire codes, which require enclosed lighting over cooking lines.
Replacement is straightforward and can be done by kitchen staff or a maintenance technician once the hood lights are turned off and allowed to cool. Unscrew or unclip the damaged globe from the fixture housing, taking care not to disturb the bulb or its socket wiring, then thread or clip the new globe into place until it seats securely against the fixture gasket.
