The Gaylord Top Cap (Part# 10244) is a genuine replacement cap for valve and switch assemblies used on Gaylord commercial kitchen ventilators. The cap seals the top of its housing, protecting the internal diaphragm, spring, or switch components from grease, moisture, and debris in the surrounding hood or control cabinet environment.
Sitting at the exterior of the assembly it protects, the top cap takes the brunt of environmental exposure and repeated handling during service or inspection. Over time the cap's threads or retaining clips can wear, crack, or lose their seal, allowing grease and moisture to reach the components underneath -- which accelerates wear on the very parts the cap is meant to protect and can eventually cause valve or switch failure.
Replacement is a simple component swap a maintenance technician can complete during routine service. With the system de-energized and, if applicable, water supply shut off, remove the damaged or loose top cap from the housing, then thread or clip the new cap into place until it seats fully and forms a tight seal. Restore power or water supply as applicable and inspect the seal for proper fit before returning the equipment to service.
