This agitator shaft assembly is a replacement for Hobart part number 00-064137 on Hobart H600 60 quart and L800 80 quart planetary floor mixers. The agitator shaft, also called the beater shaft, hangs from the planetary head and carries the beater, wire whip or dough hook around the bowl as the planetary turns. This is a complete assembly, about 10 inches long and 5 lb.
The agitator shaft carries the full load of heavy doughs, so over time the shaft can bend, the pin slot and attachment end wear, and the bearings and seal around it wear out. A bent or worn shaft lets the attachment wobble, scrape the bowl or slip off, and can cause noise, grease leaks into the product and further damage to the planetary gears. Replacing a worn shaft restores a true, tight-running attachment and protects the gearing.
Replacing the agitator shaft means opening the planetary and working with the mixer's gearing, so we recommend a qualified service technician do the job. Disconnect power before service, inspect the bearings, seal and planetary gears while the planetary is open, and refill with the correct Hobart-specified gear lubricant before running the mixer.
