Details

This 59 tooth internal gear is a replacement for Hobart part number 00-437692 (also listed as 12430-216) on Hobart 60 and 80 quart planetary mixers, including the H600, HL600, HL662, L800 and P660. It is the ring gear in the planetary head: as the planetary turns, its pinion rolls around the inside teeth of this gear, which spins the agitator shaft while it travels around the bowl. It is about 10.3 inches across.

The internal gear carries the full load of the agitator, so heavy dough, overloading, and running with low or worn-out lubricant wear and chip its teeth. A bowl or agitator strike can also crack or break teeth. A worn internal gear causes knocking or clicking once per planetary revolution, rough or uneven agitator motion, and extra wear on the planetary pinion. Replacing it restores smooth planetary action and protects the pinion and bearings.

Replacing the internal gear means taking down the planetary head, so we recommend having a qualified service technician do the work. Disconnect power, remove the agitator and planetary assembly, unbolt the old internal gear, clean the housing, install the new gear, inspect the planetary pinion and seals, reassemble, and relubricate with the correct Hobart-spec gear lubricant.
