Details

This 140 quart “B” batter beater is a genuine Hobart replacement, part number 00-874409, for Hobart Legacy HL1400-series floor mixers. The flat beater is the general-purpose agitator for batters, cake mixes, icings, mashed potatoes and other medium-consistency products, folding and blending the batch evenly through the bowl. It is cast aluminum, about 25 inches long and roughly 17.4 lb.

Over time a beater can bend from being run against stiff product or knocked against the bowl, and the hub that locks onto the agitator shaft can wear. A worn hub lets the beater slip or rattle during mixing, and a bent beater can strike or scrape the bowl and leave unmixed product along the sides. Replacing a worn beater keeps batches consistent and protects the bowl and mixer.

To install, lower the bowl, slide the beater onto the agitator shaft, turn it to lock it in place, and raise the bowl. Use the dough hook for heavy doughs and the wire whip for whipping, and avoid overloading the bowl. Wash the beater by hand with mild detergent and dry it promptly, since aluminum can discolor in a dishwasher or with harsh chemicals.
