This double row ball bearing is a compatible replacement for Hobart part number BB-021-40, used in the Hobart V1401 series 140 qt. floor mixers. The V1401 is one of the largest and most heavily used commercial planetary mixers in the foodservice industry, found in high-volume bakeries, commissaries, and food production operations. Bearings in these machines absorb the significant radial and axial loads generated by the agitator shaft turning under load — particularly during dense dough mixing — and wear over time through normal use. A worn or failed bearing typically presents as noise from the mixing head, vibration during operation, or visible shaft play that leads to further drivetrain damage if left unaddressed.
The double row design of this bearing provides greater load capacity than a single row bearing of the same bore diameter, making it appropriate for the demanding operating conditions inside a 140 qt. commercial mixer. Double row bearings are standard in mixer transmissions and agitator shaft assemblies where both the weight of the bowl and attachment and the torque of mixing operations create combined load conditions on the shaft. Replacing a worn bearing promptly prevents damage to adjacent components including the shaft, housing bore, and seals.
