This is an OEM replacement Air Gap Weldment, Omega-5E (part# 5700-003-23-48) designed for Jackson commercial warewashing equipment, including undercounter dishwashers, door-type dishwashers, flight-type conveyor dishwashers, glass washers, and pot & pan washers. The air gap weldment serves as a critical vacuum breaker and water flow control component that prevents backflow of contaminated water into the fresh water supply system while maintaining proper water delivery to wash and rinse cycles.
Air gap weldments fail due to mineral scale accumulation from hard water, corrosion from alkaline and acidic detergents, and internal component wear that compromises the mechanical ball check mechanism. Symptoms of air gap weldment failure include slow or inconsistent water delivery to the wash chamber, water siphoning back into the supply line creating health hazards, audible whistling or gurgling from the water supply connection, and reduced rinse water pressure. Failure to replace a defective air gap weldment creates serious health code violations by allowing contaminated water backflow, reduces equipment cleaning performance, and may force equipment shutdown pending water system certification.
Installation requires disassembly of water supply connections and is best performed by qualified Jackson technicians or licensed plumbers familiar with commercial dishwashing equipment.
