Controller switches degrade through mechanical wear from repeated actuation, electrical contact erosion reducing conductivity, moisture infiltration causing corrosion, or physical damage to the switch housing or actuator. Symptoms include switches that feel loose or mushy when pressed, intermittent responsiveness where repeated pressing is needed to activate functions, or complete failure to respond to operator inputs.
