PRODUCT OVERVIEW
- OEM Manitowoc Ice replacement ice thickness probe, part# 000015209
- Mounted on the evaporator to sense ice thickness and trigger the harvest cycle
- Completes an electrical circuit when growing ice contacts the probe tip
- Ensures consistent cube size and proper freeze-to-harvest cycle timing
- Direct replacement for Manitowoc commercial cube ice machines

Details
The ice thickness probe is positioned on the face of the evaporator in Manitowoc cube ice machines and serves as the primary sensor that initiates the harvest cycle. As ice forms in the evaporator cells during the freeze cycle, it grows outward until it contacts the sensing tip, completing an electrical circuit that signals the control board to begin the hot gas harvest sequence. The physical position and condition of the probe tip directly determine the thickness of every cube produced, making it one of the most influential components for consistent ice quality and production efficiency.
A worn, corroded, or scale-coated probe tip causes inaccurate ice thickness sensing, leading to cubes that are too thin (if the probe triggers prematurely) or too thick (if the probe fails to trigger at the set thickness). In some cases, a failed probe prevents harvest cycle initiation entirely, causing the machine to run in a continuous freeze state until a safety timer fault trips. Scale buildup on the probe tip must be removed during descaling cycles. Replacing with this OEM probe restores accurate ice thickness sensing and proper freeze-to-harvest cycle control.
