Details

The Manitowoc LuminIce 2nd Generation UV bulb is the replacement germicidal ultraviolet lamp for Manitowoc ice machines equipped with the LuminIce antimicrobial system. The LuminIce system uses UV-C radiation — the germicidal wavelength of ultraviolet light — to continuously irradiate the ice surface and the air and water within the ice storage bin, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mold, and other microorganisms on ice surfaces and bin walls. This provides an additional layer of microbiological protection for stored ice.

UV-C germicidal lamp output degrades progressively over the lamp's service life, even if the lamp appears to remain lit, because the UV-C wavelength output diminishes significantly before the lamp's visible light output fails. Manitowoc recommends replacing the LuminIce bulb annually to ensure the system continues to provide effective antimicrobial UV output. Replacing with this 2nd Generation OEM bulb maintains the full antimicrobial performance of the LuminIce system as designed.
