This #32 meat grinder plate with removable hub is a replacement plate kit for commercial meat grinders and mixer-grinders that take #32 size plates and knives, such as Hobart #32 grinders used in supermarket meat departments and butcher shops. The plate has 9/64 inch (3.5 mm) holes for a fine grind and is made of durable, rust-resistant steel. The kit includes the plate, a screw-on removable hub and two hardened edge grinder knives; the hub supports the end of the feed screw, and it can be removed so the plate runs as a hubless plate.
Each pass of the knife wears the plate face and the hub, and over time the hole edges round off and the face goes out of flat. A worn plate smears and tears meat instead of cutting it, which leads to mushy, warm product, slower output, extra strain on the motor and faster knife wear. Because the hub is replaceable on its own, a worn hub no longer means scrapping the whole plate, and keeping a sharp knife paired with a flat plate keeps the grind clean and consistent.
To install, disconnect power, remove the adjusting ring and the old plate, and seat a new knife on the feed screw with its cutting edges facing out. Thread the hub into the plate if you are running it hubbed, line up the plate notch with the key in the grinder head, seat the plate and tighten the ring until snug, not overly tight. After use, remove the hub, wash the parts by hand in warm soapy water, rinse and dry them right away. This grinder plate fits Hobart 4146, 4246, 4732, MG1532 and MG2032 grinders.
