The Pitco O-Ring is a direct replacement elastomeric sealing ring for Pitco commercial fryer plumbing and valve connections, providing a resilient, compressible seal between mating metal surfaces at fittings, filter connections, probe ports, and drain assemblies. The O-ring's circular cross-section is compressed during assembly to fill the space between mating surfaces and create a pressure-rated, leak-free seal that resists the high temperatures and chemical environment of commercial cooking oil service. Using the correct O-ring ensures the proper inside diameter, cross-section thickness, and elastomer compound for the specific Pitco fitting it is designed to seal.
Over time, O-rings used in hot oil service harden, crack, or take a permanent compression set that reduces their ability to create a positive seal, resulting in oil weeping from fittings, filter connections, or probe ports that can create burn hazards and oil contamination around the fryer. A hardened or cracked O-ring at a filter system connection can also allow air ingress into the pump suction side, causing the filter pump to lose prime and fail to transfer oil. Replacing degraded O-rings with the Pitco-compatible part restores the elastic sealing performance needed for leak-free connections.
O-ring replacement is simple and requires no special tools beyond disassembling the fitting, removing the old O-ring, lightly lubricating the new O-ring with a food-safe, high-temperature lubricant, and reassembling the fitting. It is recommended to replace O-rings whenever a fitting is disassembled for service, rather than reusing the old ring, and to carry spare O-rings in the fryer service kit for immediate replacement.
