The Perfect Fry 83066 Basket Ramp Spring is a genuine OEM tension spring that provides the return force for the basket ramp mechanism on Perfect Fry PFA series ventless countertop fryers. The spring keeps the ramp in its ready position between fry cycles so the basket loads and unloads consistently without operator assistance. Two springs are installed per unit working in tandem, and their combined tension is calibrated to match the weight and travel geometry of the PFA basket assembly.

Spring fatigue is a natural result of the repeated compression and extension cycles the ramp spring experiences every time the fryer runs a batch. As the spring weakens over time, the ramp may not return to its full home position between cycles, causing the basket to hang up during loading, deliver food inconsistently into the receiving tray, or generate mechanical noise as components contact each other out of alignment. A broken spring can allow the ramp to drop into a position where it interferes with door closure or basket travel, taking the fryer out of service until the spring is replaced.

Because spring tension degrades gradually rather than in a single failure event, it is good practice to replace both springs together even if only one appears to be at fault, ensuring balanced ramp return force on both sides of the assembly. The springs install with basic hand tools and no specialized equipment. Ramp spring replacement should be scheduled whenever the basket ramp does not return fully to the home position, when the basket movement becomes rough or hesitant, or during any major service event that disassembles the door and drawer area.
