The Perfect Fry 83252 Fire Actuator Damper is a genuine OEM fire safety component that automatically closes the fryer's air intake and exhaust pathway upon activation of the fire suppression system, restricting fresh oxygen supply to a cooking fire inside the fryer's cooking cavity. This damper is a passive mechanical device that is held open during normal fryer operation by a thermally or mechanically actuated retaining mechanism, and it closes automatically when that mechanism releases in response to a fire event. The combined action of the wet chemical suppression system and the fire damper provides a two‑pronged approach to extinguishing a cooking fire.
The fire actuator damper is part of the fryer's fire suppression system and must be inspected at regular intervals per NFPA 17A to verify that it moves freely, that the actuation mechanism is in good condition, and that the damper seals the airway effectively when closed. A damper that is stuck in the open position due to grease accumulation or mechanical damage to the actuator will not close during a fire event, allowing oxygen to continue feeding the fire even after the wet chemical agent has been discharged. A damper stuck in the closed position will block the fryer's airflow during normal operation, triggering filter fault codes and preventing the fryer from running.
