The Perfect Fry 83372 Relay rated at 12VAC, 2‑Pole is a genuine OEM electromechanical switching relay used in the auxiliary control circuits of Perfect Fry PFA and PFC series ventless countertop fryers. Driven by a 12VAC control coil, this 2‑pole relay switches secondary fryer circuits such as the heat lamp outlet, cooling fan, or alarm systems in response to signals from the control PCB, providing electrically isolated switching between the low‑voltage control circuit and the switched load. The factory relay specification matches the PCB's control output capability and the current rating of the loads it switches.
Electromechanical relay contacts wear through a combination of electrical arcing at each switching event and mechanical wear of the contact spring mechanism. A relay approaching end‑of‑life will begin to exhibit higher contact resistance, causing the switched load to receive reduced voltage or operate intermittently, and may eventually fail open, stopping the controlled function entirely. In some cases, contact welding from an overload event can cause the relay to fail in the closed position, which latches the controlled circuit on regardless of the PCB's control signal.
The 83372 relay mounts to the original socket or PCB position in the E‑Box and draws its coil power from the factory 12VAC control circuit, making it a straightforward replacement once the E‑Box is de‑energized. Relay replacement is indicated whenever a specific auxiliary fryer function operates intermittently or fails completely and the fault traces back to the relay through contact resistance testing.
