The Pitco Pilot Orifice Lp .016 is a direct replacement liquid propane pilot orifice for Pitco commercial gas fryers configured for LP service. With a .016-inch bore calibrated for the higher pressure and different energy density of liquid propane compared to natural gas, this orifice meters the correct LP gas volume to maintain a stable, correctly sized pilot flame. Using the LP-specific pilot orifice is critical, as installing a natural gas orifice on an LP fryer — or vice versa — produces a pilot flame that is either too large or too small to function safely and reliably.
Over time, the original LP pilot orifice can clog with debris or carbonized deposits, or its bore can corrode and enlarge, both of which disrupt the pilot flame and can cause intermittent or permanent pilot failure. A failed pilot on an LP fryer leaves the main burner inoperable and, depending on the safety valve design, may allow raw LP gas to accumulate if safety systems are not functioning correctly. Replacing it with this LP pilot orifice restores the correctly calibrated .016-inch flame for dependable LP pilot ignition and safe thermocouple operation.
Installation involves accessing the pilot assembly, removing the old orifice, and threading in the replacement with care to avoid cross-threading the small fitting.
