The Pitco Power Relay is a direct replacement high-current relay for Pitco commercial fryers. It switches the power circuit to a major load — such as a heating element, pump motor, or solenoid valve — under command of the fryer's control board or thermostat. Using the correct power relay ensures the proper contact current rating, coil voltage, and mounting style for dependable high-load switching in the fryer's electrical cabinet.
Over time, power relay contacts erode from the sustained arcing associated with switching heavy electrical loads at commercial duty cycles, and coil failures from heat stress can cause the relay to fail either open — disabling the load — or welded closed — leaving the load permanently energized. Either failure mode disrupts fryer operation and can create safety hazards. Replacing the power relay with a compatible unit restores controlled, reliable switching of the load circuit.
The power relay is mounted in the electrical cabinet and connects via screw terminals or a plug-in base depending on the model. It is recommended to measure coil voltage and contact resistance on the new relay before energizing to verify it is functioning correctly.
